Rincon questions

Our dear friend has invited us to stay with him in Rincon for a week in Jan. He rents a house for 2 months. (yes, we are jealous as heck of him!)

Can anyone let me know some info on the area, please?

From his photos and reports, it seems like a laid back area.. which we really would enjoy (not into the high rise hotels, casinos and jet setting night life).

Anything that we MUST see/do??

We love the beach, snorkeling and exploring the areas we visit.

Yes, Rincon is a very laid back town. From Rincon you can do day trips to other nearby towns like:

Cabo Rojo: go to the salt flats and the LightHouse in Combate. Spectacular views.

Camuy: The Camuy caves, and next to...

Arecibo: Radio Telescope

If youlove the beach, make a visit to Playa Sucia or make a trip to Lajas (La Parguera) rent a u-drive it boat and see the little cays, visit La Mata de la Gata cay with it's natural pool and baby fish swiming around.

Check out:

* Steps beach in Rincon for snorkeling (if there is no surf).

* Playa Buye (south of Rincon) for beautiful aqua blue water and white sandy beach

* Playa Shacks in Isabela for a peaceful and beautiful beach with great snorkeling

* Playa Jobos in Isabela on a weekend for a 'happening' beach scene (lots of music, people watching, beach bars, etc.).

Corcega Beach in Rincon is great for looooooooong walks in the morning or at dusk (when you can catch the amazing sunsets). Start by Tres Serenas and keep on going south!

Have fun!
