Caribe Hilton vs Rio Mar???

Hello,

Looking at PR for July and came upon these 2 hotels. Which one is best?

We are looking for a nice calm beach, some sightseeing and some nice activities in the evening. Also are these all inclusive? If not are they really expensive and are they of walking distance to restaurants etc. I have never been and looking to decide on our vacations.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lili, Rio Mar is a golf resort with a beach and casino and thats it. The Caribe Hilton does have a very calm beach and is reasonably well located for sightseeing, but does not have a casino and is pretty quiet at night unlike many other San Juan hotels. You might want to check out the Intercontinental instead.

We have stayed at both in the last couple of years. Neither are all inclusive, both have overpriced restaurants, both are beautiful properties. The Caribe Hilton is on 17 acres in San Juan. The Rio Mar is ore spread out and is about 30 miles East of San Juan. It has a very small Casino. There are hundreds of reviews in Tripadvisor on each and reading a few will give you an overview on each. Prvisitor suggested the Intercontinental which is on Isla Verde and under Carolina in Tripadvisor, You may also want to check out the Condado area which has the most walkability and restaurants. Hotels there include LaConcha, the Marriott and the Conrad. The beach at the Marriott however is not calm.

Rio Mar the beach is good, the pool is good, el Yunque is good, but unless you are on a business trip to Fajardo, I think I would limit the days I would spend there because it is pretty much in the middle of not any place to walk to or go eat. i think the answer is a car and a garmin.

Usually the beach at Rio Mar is not calm. If that is important, go with Caribe Hilton.
