Where to stay with children?

Hello,

we are off to puerto rico in february for 2 weeks with our 3 kids age 2,3, and 7, but have doubts on where to stay (2 places in total). we would like to be at great beaches, see nature/animals, cities/towns/local markets.

Good ideas?

Kind regards

Zuzan :-)

Beings that you prefer to be on the beach, and with kids that young, I would recommend 3 hotels:

Caribe Hilton:

Pro - the beach is a shallow lagoon with beach toys, close to the airport, Isla Verde and Old San Juan.

Con - nothing is within walking distance.

Intercontinental and El San Juan:

Pro - right on the nicest beach in San Juan, restaurants and shops are withing walking distance, close to the airport, Condado and Old San Juan.

Con - none really.

IMO, either a resort in Rio Grande such as Rio Mar or a smaller hotel such as Luquillo Sunrise Inn in Luquillo will suit your needs. While you'll be at the beach, and quite close to one of the best beaches in the east are, Luquillo beach, you'll also be as close to nature as you could with magnificient views. get (rainforrest), rivers, and falls.

You may also opt to stay in one of the rental condos at Rio Mar or a villa such as Coquishideaway in El Yunque. www.coquishideaway.com

You'll also be close to the towns of Luquilo, Rio Grande, Fajardo and at around 45 min. from San Juan and the airport.

Thanks so much -we are going to stay at the san juan area but also have some 5 days to spent at anohter part of PR. Should we go for Rincon (or to rough sea for the smallest guys), Ponce or somewhere else?

will also go to vieques...i think...can't make up my mind on culebra or vieques....

Thanks everyone :-)

What about Cabo Rojo & Boqueron? There is plenty to see do there... the salt flats, the lighthouse, nice calm water beaches, small town feel...

Hi,

that also sounds really nice, wish we had more than 2 weeks in PR.

so, cabo rojo is a better idea than ponce or rincon when focus is on seeing local life, great calm beaches?

thanks a lot

Please make sure whereever you book, that they allow 5 people in the room If you don´t need Resort or fancy I would recommend ESJ Towers. They have a playground, Baby Pool, Ping pong, kitchen in the room, Laundry and so on. That makes it very convenient with Children. I´ve stayed there many times when my Kids where smaller. It saves a lot of money with the kitchen

Definitely, Cabo Rojo is better than Ponce, although bothhave their charm. POnce is qute hot during the day and if you are coming from Copenhagen you'll reakky feel the heat.

Nevertheless, you may do a day trip to Ponce for a visit to the Old firehouse, have some icecream at the ice cream parlor in front of the plaza (more than 40 flavors made daily), a visit to the Tibes indian park, Serralles, and a stroll at LA Guacha, among others. The beaches in POnce are not great, not even good,,,

Your kids will be happier and more relaxwd in CAbo Rojo and BOqueron area...

In Cabo Rojo, besides fresh fish and seafood try the freshly made artisanal fruit pastes (yam, mango, guava, sour orange, etc.) and the garlic butter. They are mostly sold at the Panaderias (Bakeries).

The homemade casquitos the guayaba and the lechosa strips with white chese are yummy for desert.
