Transport between San Juan airport and humacao

We are landing in San Juan at 9pm and need to get to humacao that evening. Wonder what is the best option.

Renting a car is your best option. There is no meaningful public transport that goes there and a taxi would be much more expensive than a car rental. Humacao is pretty spread out and unless you have something specific arranged, you will need one when you get there. That is true even if you are staying in Palmas where a car is needed just to get around the development.

Expensive taxi ride or car rental.

And, as explained above, you will need a car to move around in Humacao. This is not a typical tourist area, so taxis have to be called for service. Your best bet is to rent a car. Driving time from SJ is 45min (rush hour, add 20-30min).
