Suggestions for a Sunday in eastern Puerto Rico

Hi everybody!

We leave for Puerto Rico in less than a month. Any suggestions on what we should do on a Sunday - with the key requirement being that it's not too crowded. That Saturday we will go to Las Cabezas and also a biobay tour but was wondering on what to do on Sunday. We will go to El Yunque during the week since it sounds like it gets crowded on weekends. A short hike would be nice but we really prefer to avoid crowds when hiking.

Thanks!

I know you stated, "no crowds", but a popular Sunday outing is the "Pork Highway" in Guavate. PR's from all over the island head there for roast pig and the accompaniments. The key is to go early. Not too far is away is Charcol Azul in Patillas, a fresh water pool.

if you arrive early in the morning (say8:30- 9am) old San Juan is good for a stroll. you could have breakfast there (St. Germaine has a nice brunch) and then off to walk.

It gets busy in the afternoon, but the kind of busy you like to enjoy. There are many families, and down by Paseo de la Princesa many people gather to play music and dance.

Out by the small Ceiba airport there is a cafe run by a Puerto Rican couple who are musicians that have lived in New York. They serve good local food in a room that holds about 25 people. He plays a great piano and sings and she is also a singer as well as a welcoming hostess. You can check the local tourist magazines for more information because unfortunately I can't remember the name of their cafe. I believe they are open all day Sunday. You drive to the Ceiba airport but turn left off the airport road just before you get to the terminal. Drive about a mile and it's there by the seashore.
