January calmest Beaches

Arriving in San Juan Jan 16, where would the best resort and calmest beaches be, and easy access without renting a car?

Beaches on the Atlantic (north) side of the island are typically rough in the winter months. Look for something on the Caribbean (which means south coast, or at least mid-way down the east or west coasts). Rental car is required outside of the San Juan metro area.

Cabo Rojo's beaches are very calm. So are the beaches in Guanica.

The beaches on the south side or Caribbean side of Puerto Rico are much calmer. Avoid the Ponce area since there are really not any good beaches there with the exception of Caja de Muerto Island off shore.
