Traveling with a baby can be tricky, and a joy, make sure your choice offers a room where you can put the baby down for a nap, and enjoy yourself right outside. Be sure to bring your baby monitor! You might like CopaMarina, in Guanica.

We are from Rincon on the west coast, so I'm a little biased to our area, here you will find great beaches with a variety of accomodations, check out

ww.rincon.org and www.rinconpr.com

both are great sites.

Isla Verde or the Condado for a Miami Beach-esque experience...the beach is pretty and there's lots to do close by. You could spend a day in Old San Juan, a day at the rainforest, etc.

If you don't want the city, but still want a big resort that has everything, look at El Conquistador or the Westin Rio Mar on the east side of the island. Both nice beaches and lots of places to eat, casino, etc.

The Embassy Suites in Dorado is nice, too, and you're only 20+ miles outside San Juan.

And, if you want a really laid back holiday in a pretty place -- nice beach (though calm, shallow water) away from it all, or at least from most of it, do look at the Copamarina. At the Copa you can also take the 5 minute ferry jaunt over to Gilligan's Island, or you can hike in the nearby dry forest, or head to the mountains and visit a coffee plantation.

Look up what reviewers have said about these places and you might find a fit! No matter where you go you will have plenty of opportunity to either do nothing or to keep busy.

For a quiet "Caribbean" vacation (a real getaway) I recommend the Copamarina Beach Resort in Guanica (about 30 minutes west of Ponce). The place consistently gets rave reviews. Check the TripAdvisor reviews. We have stayed there 2x and loved it. It is a family-friendly type of place and great for couples with small children. We got GREAT rates on expedia, including airfare and taxes. They also offer an all-inclusive meal and drinks plan. There is a supermarket minutes away and in the town of Yauco there are inexpensive eateries like Pollo Tropical and El Meson (both serving PR and Cuban fare)

CBR is really laid-back. You can snorkel or dive right off-shore or visit nearby Gilligans Island. The resort sits right on the beach with the Dry Forrest Reserve as its backdrop. The reserve is the only one like it in the world with trees reminiscent of Japanese Bonzai trees. It has hiking trails, some with spectacular views of the ocean.

The city of Ponce is nearby and there are a lot of attractions for you to see. It is the second largest city in Puerto Rico, but is nothing like San Juan with its hustle and bustle. The city is charming and has a lot of interesting historical sites/architecture to see. Here is just a sample of things to see and do:

Ponce has an American-style mall called Plaza Del Caribe with 130 stores including J.C. Penney and Sears as anchor stores. (just in case you need to buy something you forgot)

Day trip attractions:

1. Serralles Castle. A 1920's Spanish revival home in the hills overlooking the city of Ponce. Now a museum and a major attraction in Ponce.

2. La Cruceta del Vigia. A 100 ft observation tower on the same street and a short walk to the Serralles Castle. Gives you a dramatic view of the southern coastline.

3. Ponce Museum of Art. A world class musem with a collection of over 3,000 pieces including European and American Schools and famous Puerto Rican painters.

4. Hacienda Buena Vista. Located in the mountains just above the city of Ponce. It's a beautifully restored 19th century coffee plantation under the care of the PR Conservation Trust. Reservations are required. 787-722-5882.

5. La Guancha. Boardwalk at Ponce's port, just across from the yacht and fishing club. Includes food kiosks in an open-air venue. Boutique stores and live Salsa/Merengue bands Fridays to Sundays.

6. Historic residences and buildings of Ponce. Located in the city center. The buildings have been beautifully restored. Either walk or take a tour

7. Caja de Muertos Island. A state park administered off-shore island with beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear waters and coral reefs.

I hope this helps; whatever you choose, have a great vacation!
