child free vacation, part II

I just bought tickets for my wife and I to visit Peurto Rico while are son visits his grandparents. Needless to say, I am quite pleased. I have settled on El Convento as our hotel. I suspect historic San Juan is good for at least one day. The historic sights are of more interest to me than my wife. Is there a shopping area or something that may apeal to her? I am not sure how much buying she would do, but she does like to browse. Also, is there a good destination for a day tour outside of San Juan? I have had success with booking tours in other cities, and I would consider renting a car for a day or two. I would like to return to San Juan at night. I am not in the mood to move hotels on this trip. Thanks.

Stores in Old San Juan include many designer brand stores, jewelery stores, art galleries, the typical "tee shirt and magnet" stores, and even a Marshall's.

There are lots of things to do outside of the San Juan area, and having your own car will facilitate that. What are your interests? Nature? Hiking? Beaches? Snorkeling? Adventure? Local food? It's all there.

Typical recommendations include El Yunque rain forest, one of the biobays at night, and some beach time.

Old San Juan has great outlet stores such as Ralph Lauren, Coach (great deals here), Dooney & Burke, Tommy H., etc. If your wife enjoys shopping and/or browsing, she won't be disppointed.

The link provided on the post above is a great source for day trips. The one below is a fun way to explore the Old San Juan.

Have fun!
