can't decide btw 3 hotels pre-cuise

Hi,

I will be staying 2 nights in San Juan pre-cuise (4 adults and a child). Can't decide btw Caibe Hilton, Conrad San Juan or San Juan Marriot and Stellaris Casino. What's important is that it's clean, it's on the beach (all are), and that restaurants are not to far away.

Thanks

All 3 hotels you will love and are very similar in terms of quality. The Caribe Hilton is not directly on Ashford Ave, as are the others. So, to tgo the the ofsite restaurants you will need to walk about 10 minutes to get to Ashford Ave, where the other two hotels area at. Therefore, if you want to be within very easy walking distance to of-site restaurants, check the other two. La Concha is another popular choice in Ashfrod Ave.

Also, the Condado beach is so-so (both Caribe Hilton's and Conrad's are man-made shallow lagoons). Isla verde has the nicer beach.

Since I am travelling with a 4 year old and some adults who can't swim, I don't want the water to be too wavy. I'm leaning towards Conrad more, because it's a little less expensive.

Conrad is a great hotel. You can't go wrong with it.

On post got me a little worried about the beach. Does it really back up to a bridge? Also, I'm assuming that the restaurants are within walking distance, but how far is it really?

The beach at the Conrad is quite nice. There is a bridge nearby but nothing to worry about. It is very calm. There are lost of nearb y restaurants right next door to the hotel and they go on Ashford Ave for about 10 minute walking. There are plenty to choose from.

the beach area near the Condado Plaza Hotel (conrad) is perfect for small kids, has no waves.

the one in fromt of Marriott is too rough and not recommended for kids.

As for off site restaurants the Marriott is in the middle of Condato and has a wide choice of restaurants on both sides. The Conrad is on one end of Condado. Plenty of restaurants to choose from but not as many close by as the Marriott. The Caribe is more isolated and other than a Subway near its entrance you have to walk over the bridge to Condado to get to other restaurants. I walked the bridge back and forth last January during the day but would not do it at night. Near the Conrad is the Hacienda a little hole in the wall which serves a decent breakfast. Next door is the Wakicki another hole in the wall restaurant where we have always had good food. Across the street from the Wakici is Chilis the same gringo restaurant as back in the States. Further down if you have good walking shoes is the Latin Star next to Walgreens which serves a good made to order breakfast with outdoor seating along the sidewalk.. A good mile from the Conrad is Tijanas which is our favorite restaurant in Condado. Additionally there are a few upscale and expensive restaurants as well as several in each hotel As far as fast food there are a lot to choose from on Condado except for the absence on Mickey Dees. See you on the ship in19 days.
