Las Casitas

We are just about to book a one bedroom unit at Las Casitas for August 8 - 13. Has anyone stayed there recently, and can you tell us if you had a good experience? What is the one restaurant we should not miss in Fajardo?

I have stayed at Las Casitas various times. It is a beautiful place. The best ones are phase 2, which although much farther away from everything they have a a much nicer layout and nicer furniture that the original Casitas. They are located on a clif and some have great ocean views. To get to the hotel main building you can walk or take a shuttle. If you are traveling with your children, I think they are too far away. remeber that the Conquistador, Although a spectacular resort is huge and even from the main hotel building to the beach you must walk, then take a funicular down to the port, wait for a boat to arrive and take the ride to Palomino.

If you are traveling with children, you can also consider a beachfront villa at the Wydnham Rio Mar Resort. It is located in the same area of the El Conquistador, except that the villas are a few feet from the beach as well as the hotel main building, and the hotel has a great waterslide for them. The hotel does not rent these villas you must rent them through the owners directly. In Trip Advisor you can find villa owners listings here:

We rented a 3 bedroom at Las Casitas. I love the place. The El Conquistador complex is absolutely beautiful, magnificent scenery, lovely landscaping and panoramic ocean vistas. Try to get a unit with ocean views. Nothing like sitting on the balcony at night, looking out onto the ocean and falling alseep under the stars with the mild ocean breezes and coquis chirping.
