Road closures on Sunday 3/18 due to Ironman Triathlon

Here is some information from the PRTHA about the temporary closings and detours that will take place on Sunday, March 18th from 4 AM until 1:30 PM due to the second edition of Jeep Ironman 70.3 San Juan:

Section 1-2

Drivers headed toward the Islet of San Juan will do so via Fernández Juncos Ave. Drivers departing from the islet will take Constitución Ave. (PR-25) and Fernández Juncos Ave. (PR-35).

Section 2-3

The Luis Muñoz Rivera Expressway (PR-1) will be closed in the direction of the Islet of San Juan toward the John F. Kennedy Expressway (PR-2). Drivers will use the Baldorioty de Castro Expressway (PR-26).

Section 3-4

The John F. Kennedy Expressway (PR-2) will be closed from San Juan to Guaynabo. Drivers using Roberto H. Todd Ave. (PR-2) toward the de Diego Expressway (PR-22) will be diverted via the Luis Muñoz Rivera Expressway, where they will be able to reach the de Diego Expressway (PR-22).

Section 4-5

The extreme right lane at the intersection of the de Diego Expressway (PR-22) and the John F. Kennedy Expressway (PR-2) will be closed. This closing will extend until the exit ramp toward PR-165. Drivers headed to PR-165 can use PR-5, PR-869 or PR-167 as alternate routes.

Section 5-6

The roads from Guaynabo to Toa Baja on PR-165, from PR-28 until the Punta Salinas public beach in Toa Baja, will remain closed so that Iron Man cyclists may ride. The same will apply to from Toa Baja to Guaynabo on the stretch between PR-5 and PR-28. Drivers heading toward Guaynabo on PR-165 must take the exit to PR-5 and continue to PR-22 in the direction of San Juan.

Those driving in this area will be able to access different destinations on both sides of PR-165 by using the intersection of PR-5 as well as the intersection of PR-870, the entrance to Isla de Cabras and the entrance to Balneario Punta Salinas, which will have controlled access that day.

Section 6-7

PR-165, from the Punta Salinas public beach until PR-865 in Toa Baja, will be closed in both directions. Drivers west of PR-165 from Dorado to Toa Baja will be able to use PR-854, while drivers east of PR-165/Ingenio and Campanillas may use PR-867 until José Julián Acosta Street connection to PR-865.
