I would plan for 45 minutes to an hour each. That should be enough time to enjoy the forts and stare at the beautiful views.

There are tours by the park service that are good. Just sitting on the grass at El Morro and watching the kites is relaxing also. Personally I can spend a couple hours at each and I have been there a couple dozen times. It's really up to you. Do you just want a quick look to take in the sites and panarama or look at the displays and take a guided tour.

My husband and I spent about an hour in each one. If you wanted to read every sign at each exhibit within the forts, you could be there for hours.

Depending on how mobile you and your travel partners are, it could take you longer to get up and down all the steps at El Morro - or less time if you decide not to go to every level. It really depends on how interested you are in the forts.
