It is expensive and it would be better to rent a car. The drive is about an hour and a half. The issue with a taxi is the return trip to San Juan. There will be no taxis waiting in Guavate for you.

It is in Cayey, so $70 each way, plus waiting time.

It is good and all, but not worth that much!

If you arrive on sunday, and your cruise departs on sunday, then its really not worth the effort of going there. If you want to go to a local hangout, try Pinones. For good puertorican food in OSJ, try Vaca Brava, Cafe Puerto Rico, Cafe Manolin or Raices.

well, you can hire a private driver to take you there wait and bring you back. it may be more economical than a regular taxi. I would suggest email John at Johnspublico@yahoo.com. He is very reliable and safe. Explain what your needs are and ask a price. it may be worth it.

also, driving in Puerto Rico is not bad. it is easy to get to Guavate if you are a confident driver. maybe consider it. from guavate you can drive to fajardo to do a bio bay tour, which is really phenominal.

Amazing how some people just give generic non-specific advice. Que Pasa has alot of info in it but www.puertoricodaytrips.com is better.
