Must sees, eats, tips help please!!

Going to be in San Juan for several days in January attending a convention at Sheraton Convention Center. Staying 2 nights at Hilton Caribe and 4 at the Sheraton. Any suggestions for must see/points of interest and restaurants near by? Preferrably within walking or short taxi drive distance from hotel. Also, nothing too terribly expensive as far as restaurants go.

Also any travel tips would be greatly appreciated. We travel quite a bit and have been out of the country before but never to Puerto Rico. Trying to map out our itinerary.

Thanks!

Which Sheraton? What do you consider expensive?

Sheraton Convention Center and Casino. I would say under $100 for a nice dinner and under $50 for casual. I heard drinks, etc are pricey so we will probably stop at a convenience store for that. How much will a taxi to Old San Juan set us back? :-)

Taxi to OSJ is about $10.

As you know, there is nothing within walking distance from the Sheraton. The Caribe Hilton is also in a secluded area, but you could walk to Condado in about 15min, or OSJ in about 25min.

There is a lot to see in OSJ. Go to the things to do section for ideas.

Hello! Hope you are well. You will be close to an area called Condado, literally across the bridge. You can see it from your hotel. You can take the green trolley(it's free) once you get to Ashford ave. Ashford ave goes into Condado area, there you will find tons of restaurants. As far as places to see, you probably don't have the time to go outside of SanJuan area. Take the city bus(.75cents) to Old San Juan. There you can visit the famous fort near the ocean. While in Old San Juan hop on he green or white trolley (free) and it they will take you all around Old San Juan. This area is the main tourist area. This maybe all you have time to enjoy. Also if you want to dance a little, you can go to the Isla Verde by cab for about $20, to the old san juan hotel. There is a mature dance lounge area inside. Admission is free. I hope I was able to help. Take care!!
