Where to stay in San Juan for one night

We are landing in San Juan on a Saturday about 4:00pm and then catching one of the cruise ships and would like to be on it by 3:00 or 4:00 on Sunday. We would like to stay somewhere that we can see a lot in a short amount of time! I am assuming maybe a taxi tour of the city would be best? Any suggestions of where to stay and what to do?

You can stay anywhere in OSJ, Condado or Isla Verde, all within 15min of the aiport and both cruise piers.

The main attraction is OSJ. You can walk around or take the free trolley. A taxi would not be the best option, as the streets are narrow and you will not see anything seating in a car. Go through the Things to do section to discover all the sites you can explore.

I would get a room in Old San Juan. You have great Restaurants and on Sunday you can tour the Town. Don't need to do it by Taxi, everything walk-able. Get a map from your Hotel. In Balleja is a nice Museum " Las Americas" with great exhibitions

It all depends on your budget and party size. There are no bad hotels in OSJ, and not too many to choose from.

It all depends on your budget. For a good, reasonably priced hotel, Wind Chimes Boutique Hotel in Isla Verde (close to the airport) is a good option. The main attraction as others mentioned is OSJ though, and that will be a taxi ride away (costing $5 each person in a taxi most likely). If you can afford it, El Convento in OSJ is a really nice option.

If your cruise departs from the pier in Old San Juan, it would be ideal to stay in the old quarter. At the upper end of hotels is the historic El Convento Hotel which is right in the heart of the historic area. Right across the street is the Sheraton Old San Juan. There are a lot of other boutique hotels in the old city to choose from.

We recently stayed a night in Casa Blanca Hotel in OSJ. We found it to be a charming boutique hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms vary, we had a suite that was very comfortable for our family of 4. Clean, with good air conditioning. The only downside for some is that it is 5 floors with no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor and did not find it to be a problem.
