Water temperature

We are considering Vieques for a family vacation in early Feb. of 2011. Can anyone tell me what we can expect for water temperature at that time of year?

The water is 80+ f in the winter months. Air temp in the low 80's. The water gets even warmer in the summer. While refreshing after basking in the sun, the water is warm to us visitors from the northeast. Enjoy your trip if you decide to go. Vieques is a wonderful place for families to spend time together without the distractions of modern life.

im sorry to disagree, the water temp is NOT 80 plus degress in the winter. it is still warmer then than the water in the n.e. during most of the summer though. but it is not in the 80's.

Sea surface temps will vary somewhat according to beach location. For instance, Playa Media Luna is always warmer than Playa Navio, even though the two are only separated by a relatively short space. I measured beach temps this February, 2010 in the 79 to 81 degree F range.

Thank you for your replies! We went to Sea of Cortes this year in April and were very disappointed that the water was too cold to swim. Even with shorty wetsuits, we didn't stay in long. Since we are avid swimmers and snorkelers, this really dampened our enjoyment. I unfortunately don't have a choice what month we vacation next year, so am hoping for the best...:)
