New Restaurant in Isable..

Just got back from the grand opening of a new restaurant in Isabel. It's at the old Coconuts location. Although I met the owner Maria I failed to ask the name of her place. Oops...

Anyway, good eat's and a very reasonable price. There was 4 of us. We had two appetizers, Conch Salad and Red Snapper bits. There's was a dipping sauce for the Red Snapper that was plenty "picante" but still very good. For entrees we had two Mahi Mahis with a ginger pineapple sauce, Red Snapper with beans and rice, Pork chops with this wonderful red relish. Total for everything was $74 not including tip.

Well I see I've transposed the l and the e in the title and can't figure out how to change it...chalk it up to too many Medallas

:-)

Yes the seating is the same, nothing much has changed, other than the menu and of course the prices.

We were there opening night as well. Took quite a long time to get our food, but there were eight of us. Reasonably priced, loved the mahi. Mashed root vegetables were great as was the garlic chicken. BYOB, no liquor license yet. But they do have a bottle opener if you forget to bring your own!

The restaurant's name is Zafra - meaning saffron. Our meal was delicious. We had the ceviche - very fresh with a light marinade and some julienne vegetables mixed in. Served in a colorful tower topped with a scallop. Great fried calamari and love the cilantro aioli as opposed to the usual marinara. We had the mahi with the root vegetables and the snapper with the salsa and beans and rice. Tres leches cake for dessert. It was all delicious. Entrees about $16 each, appetizers around $10. It was alot of food, and we took some of our entree home. Nice to BYOB. We shall return!!

Please check the name of the restaurant.

Zafra is the harvest season for the sugar cane. Azafrán is the name in Spanish for saffron, the spice.
