Seaborne Airlines

Has anyone flown Seaborne from SJU to VQS? That is the airline that had the best connections for our flight from IAD on Monday, April 1. Just resumed flights to Vieques on March 1 according to their website. Any thoughts? Yvette is sure that it will be a Poseidon adventure.

All of the planes flying to Vieques and Culebra islands are "puddle jumpers" and are comparable. It's usually cheaper to fly from Isla Grande Airport which is about 15 minutes from the international airport.

Seaborne is fine. They used to fly from Isla Grande to Vieques and then discontinued service out of Isla Grande completly.

They fly planes with huge windows,so you really get the views.

Reporting on our trip with Seaborne. The flights themselves were great but check-in at SJU was something else. We arrived on UA and were taking off to Vieques on Seaborne. The problem is the Seaborne counter is at the totally other end of San Juan airport-not at all near the VAL or Cape Air counters. After picking up our baggage it was a long walk and the sole clerk was overwhelmed. While there were only two or so customers in line ahead of us, they both had huge amounts of luggage and cargo. After waiting for an hour in line, I was asked to go to the back of the line so that soon departing guests flying to Tortolla could check in. I got mad and was given a boarding pass in less than 3 minutes . Never again Seaborne.

Thanks for the follow up D.Q. it's important to get current information.

what was the price of the flight, one way?

i haven't had favorable experiences with seaborne, and I am not a fan. I would fly VAL as first choice always but I also know that flight schedule makes a HUGE difference. Luckily VAL has alot of flights throughout the day at the combined airports.

Cape Air is nice with it's agrrement with different airlines. They will transfer your luggage for you.

It seems to me that Seaborne has never really been committed to serving Vieques. They came in a few years ago, then left, now they're back. I don't know what their schedule is like now, but before the flight times were very fuzzy so you were never sure when the once daily flight in each direction was actually going to depart. BTW, I also had a bad experience with them a couple of years ago. Flight was canceled for no apparent reason (I suspect it was because I would have been the only passenger). Had to scramble to Ceiba to make the last flight over!

I flew with seaborne today. First they sat an elderly gentleman who needed assistance getting on the plane in the exit row. Then after taxiing and just prior to takeoff he started to not feel well. The pilot couldn't decide if the man was well enough to fly so he called for a medic. After 45 minutes the medic hasn't arrived so the pilot decided to continue with the flight from Tortola to SJU. But then he got a call that the medics were almost through security. So after an hour of sitting on the plane the medic got on, took one look at the gentleman and escorted him off the plane. Arrived 1.5 hours late. Medical emergency is understandable. A pilot not able to be a leader and make decisions for the safety of all passengers is not. I've flown over 200000 miles and have never witnessed such incompetence in a flight crew.

Seaborne Airlines has very rude employees. Did want to help. Always tried to shuffle you off to someone else.
