The situation with the ferry is now at critical stage. I have heard so many conflicting statements regarding the ferry and the schedule that we are considering canceling our trip altogether. We are supposed to arrive on the 11/30 at 3:55PM to SJU. Our original plan was to take the 8:00 ferry, which would perfectly as a member of our group WILL NOT under any circumstance take a puddle jumper plane. She is deathly afraid. Now, a week and a half out from the trip, I am reading on here that the passenger ferries are "broken" and the cargo ferries are being used instead, but only on every other Saturday, which would make it so we are SOL on our arrival or departure. But then some are saying the cargo ferries are also running on passenger ferry times? I just need to know what is the actual story on these ferries as nobody can give me a straight answer, not even the homeowner where we are staying. The fact that an island which is completely dependent on tourism doesn't have functioning passenger ferries, and no ferry service on certain Saturdays (the busiest travel day of the week) is mind boggling. Bottom line, if there is no reliable ferry service, we cannot take the chance of missing flights and spending additional nights in hotels; so we will be canceling our trip. Thanks for your insight.
