I'm traveling to Vieques for 3 nights with my girlfriend in June, as a part of a larger PR trip. I have the jeep rental already set (as it is recommended to get that ASAP), so our dates are pretty firm.
I'm having trouble deciding on where to stay. The girlfriend is convinced she wants an oceanfront property, which for all it's wonderful beaches, Vieques does not seem to be overly-plentiful of. I explained there are some great alternatives in Esperanza or further inland with wonderful views, but she's pretty set on oceanfront. I've learned there's a time to pick your battles and there's a time where you just say "ok honey" and get the girl what she wants :)
So I contacted Hector's by the Sea because they are well recommended and reviewed, and are obviously on the ocean. Unfortunately the smaller, more romantic casita is taken, so we're looking at one of the other two for about $150 a night, which is pretty much my max budget at this point (We have 7 nights booked on the main island as well...).
There's also Ababor on the north side which has good reviews and seems to be pretty private. They have availability for our travel dates.
At the Waves is also an option for the single bed villa.
I've been through Flipkey and HomeAway quite a bit looking for small beachfront rentals, but am not coming up with anything in that pricerange.
Can anyone compare and contrast the options I'm looking at, or have any other suggestions? Also personally I think I'd like to be on the south side as Esperanza seems more appealing to me than Isabel II, but maybe that is a misinterpreted opinion of reading reviews.
Thanks for the help!
