saba

I am planning a trip to Saba for Mar. '10. I would like to stay for 8 days and dive for at least 5. Any suggestions for dive operators lodging, places to eat would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of small inns on the island that are very nice. If you want something a bit more private there are a handfull of very nice cottages to rent as well. We always dive with Sea Saba which has the nicest boats on the island.

You best bet would be to contact either Sea Saba or their U.S based travel agent, Dive Saba Travel. Dive Saba Travel can put together a complete package for you including airfare from the U.S and handle your connections in St. Martin as well.

Good luck

Thank you very much for your response. I have tried to contact Dive Saba Travel twice via email and have received no response. Do you know if she is still in buisness?

We dove with Sea Saba and were very pleased. They also arranged everything else for us - lodging at the Hummingbird Villa, dinners each night, taxis all over the island - we didn't have to think about anything, just put in our requests to Lynn in the morning and everything was taken care of. The Villa was beautiful, with a small pool and a fully equipped kitchen. About a 10 min walk into town (very steep hills). In our experience, Eden was the best restaurant by leaps and bounds. We didn't try every restaurant, but ate at Saba Treasure, Gate House, Ecolodge & Brigadoon. All of these were fine, but Eden really had fantastic food.

We stayed at the Iris House in Saba. It is a 2br/2ba private home with bunkhouse and private pool. They have inclusive rates that includes diving. The house is right in Windwardside with only a small short grade to walk into town. About 5-10 min walk. No big hills to get to restaurants/stores/etc. Beautiful views from the front porch. There are roosters/chickens in the vicinity that make noise and not sure if they are everywhere. We will def stay at Iris House again. Excellent accomodations. Diving was with Sea Saba (Lynn) and was an excellent outfit...they even got some groceries I requested so they were in the fridge on arrival. Saba is awesome. Hope you enjoy it. Irishousesaba.com
