St. Barthelemy Day Trip - Questions

Hello,

We'll be in St. Martin in March and plan to take a day trip to St. Barthelemy (we'll be flying from the airport in Grand Case using St. Bart Commuter). We plan to rent a car and drive around to see the island and all its beaches. We'd like to plant ourselves on one beach in the morning and another beach in the afternoon. Any suggestions which ones? We're in our late 30s with a 6-year-old. Calm, clear waters are a must and we prefer beaches that aren't too crowded.

Where would you recommend we eat for lunch? Nothing chichi-foufou please. I was thinking maybe a place on St. Jean Beach. Any specific suggestions? We love French and Italian food.

Thank you.

The best beaches for kids are probably St. Jean and Shell beach in Gustavia. Both have calm waters and the shells on the beach will keep your 6 year old happy for hours! And lucky for you, both have restaurants with accessable bathrooms.

You may want to do Shell beach for lunch if you're looking for tres casual, the restaurant Do Brazil has a lovely restaurant upstairs, but you may want to just "snack it" at the walk-up on the beach that sell pannini sammys, that type of fare. Mom and dad can also procure a beverage. Then head to Gustavia, do some shopping, you may want to stop at Le select and have a plat of frits and a cold one. Then head over to St. Jean.

On St. Jean you will see chilren eating at Le Plage, Sand Bar, Niki Beach. All child friendly, they get tired of sitting and can run right out to the beach and play. You can sit back and enjoy, they will be in eyesight. And watching the planes come and go is endless fun.

Of course, you could turn this around and do St. Jean first, then shop, then Shell beach. Either way, you will have a full day of fun.

Enjoy, Binti
