Do most merchants accept US Dollars, or are Euros required? Where is the best place to exchange for Euros?

Most everywhere take credit/debit cards. To get cash the best exchange rate is through the ATMs.

Prices are in euros but everyone accepts USD. But with the exchange rates used it is nearly always mutch better to pay in euros.

There are several ATM's on the island, including one just opposite the airport ( BRED ). You will need to swipe your card to enter the area where the cash machine is located, but most cards seem to be accepted.

Just asking because day trip no euro exchange necessary. As mentioned there are ATM's, and you can also visit one of the currency exchange places in person. We use one in Gustavia. There are a couple. Look at www.news-sbh.com, there are two places that advertise daily with their exchange rates, even if you don't speak French you will recognize the ad, one has a hand holding a bag of money. One is pretty close to Le Select, ask the friendly bartender there to point you in the right direction. Le News is available daily on line and found in print at stores, shops, bakeries, restaurants daily on the island. Almost everything on the island takes VISA, really not much need for euros, except for places you just want a quick drink like Le Select.
