Best beach for activities

Good Morning - What is the best beach to try windsurfing and regular surfing, for beginners? I have seen a few businesses online but was unsure if one was preferred. Thanks in advance, the responses on my posts within this forum have been so helpful thus far!

Grand cul de sac is a good windsurfing beach. Steady wind and shallow. There is also some windsurfing in Saint Jean, but not as good because the reef gets in the way and the wind is more variable.

Saint Barth is not a great place for "regular surfing". There are some beaches where surfing is practiced ("washing machine, grand fond") but they are hard of accces and surfing is quite difficult as the name indicates. I don't know of anyone offering lessons for this reason.

You will see locals surf at Toiny , especially on Sundays. Don't try this yourself if you are not a strong swimmer with others around. The surf is very rough and there are lots of rips. Its fun to just watch.

Paddleboarding is also gaining popularity on both St Jean and Grand Cul de Sac. Kayaks are available at both beaches as well.

Windsurfing is quite common off St. Jean beach.

Yes, when you are on St. Jean beach check out Carib Waterplay...their "office" is located next to La Plage resto on the beach...when looking out to the water from La Plage it will be on your right side of the resto. Look for a very handsome, tan, mature man in a wet suit....that's the lovely owner...he will get you up and surfing in no time. B
