self catering food and prices

Going to SLU in March, how do prices of supermarket foods compare with UK?

Are there any 'local' foods to be found in supermarkets and are there any 'local' cheeses. When buying fish can you buy it ready headed and gutted, I'm a bit squeamish!

Looking at restaurant prices it seems we will be better eating at the villa with just an occasional restaurant.

Especially now with the pound only worth 3.8 ECs (it was over 5 this time last year) you will find supermarkets dearer than the UK. You will also find that choice is limited in the supermarkets.

If you are staying near Castries, you can buy fresh fish in the market, and they will remove the head for you if you ask them. It is already gutted.

We also tend to eat in more than we did last time, but still eat out every few days.
