What fruit is "In Season"?

Will be in St. Lucia at the end of November and was wondering what fruit is in season now? We really enjoy tropical fruit so looking forward to seeing what is available.

Not a whol lot locally - some local oranges and grapefuits, etc. but mangos are out of season - you should get some local papaya , those are in season all year long. Pineapples are in season all year long - but the ones in the hotels are imported. Apples, grapes, watermelon, cantelope, etc are all imported. As are most oranges you see in hotels - our oranges are more of a yellow/green color. Same goes for limes and lemons.

There will be some local fruit, but most will be imported. Sorry.

Thanks reedprincess!! I guess it won't be any different than what we get here in Toronto - all imported!

It will be similar. Local oranges and grapefruits may still be in season, but again, you will only see them at the farmers markets or in the grocery stores - not in the resorts or tourist restaurants (they are not orange!) Golden Apples are usually year-round (not the same as a Golden Delicious apple; not actually like an apple really at all, but yummy). Papaya you may see in the stores or markets year round - and let's not forget local bananas - they are year round too! Not necessarily in your resorts, but the ones in the supermarket are local. As are the plantains.

Enjoy!

Thank you Princess. We are not staying at a resort, but a cottage in Marigot Bay. It is handy to know what is local before I shop.
