Snorkel tour or do yourself at resort?

I am staying at halcyon beach sandals. Are the snorkel tours worth the money?

OR use the gear provided and anyone know a good place we can walk to ourselves ?

What about other tours?? Just need info on what everyone liked or didn't like.

Bon jou missypenelope,

The natural habitat of the beautifully colored fish (and other marine life) that you'd want to see while snorkeling is around the coral reefs.

And most of the coral reefs in St. Lucia are around The Pitons.

Worth it? Ours is, but you have to come to Soufriere to experience it...

Bless up! Paul

The best snorkeling is, as Congomon mentioned, in the south around the Pitons, however there is a bit of snorkeling at Pigeon Island on the south side.

I highly recommend taking a tour down the west coast to Soufriere which includes some snorkeling. Spencer Ambrose offers a tour that goes by land and returns by sea so you get the best of both worlds so to speak - St Lucia has a very dramatic and scenic coastline but is equally scenic from the roadways.

Bring your own snorkel gear if you intend on playing around at any of the Sandals resort beaches, and or walking over to Pigeon Island from SGSL. There's nothing to see from the Halcyons beach, though if you luck out with clear water conditions, it's always fun to take a look around in the water where ever you are, lol.

The Sandals snorkel gear is ~only~ available for use on ~their~ snorkel/boat outings, it is ~not~ available to rent or use at your own leisure at the beach or going out exploring on your own.

Sandals, "included" snorkeling" is done by boat, from the Sandals Halcyon you take a 10/15 min shuttle to a dock in Castries to board.

They also offer a Super snorkel tour, for around $30/40 p/p going out on the Sandals boat. I believe on this one, they (may ?) take you down closer to the Piton/Soufriere area snorkel/scuba dive hot spots. If this is the case, I do believe it would be worth paying additional.

Be sure though to take advantage of what you've already paid for and enjoy the included snorkel outings, too.

Sign up as soon as possible for the included snorkeling as it does book up.

Agree with the above...we stayed at the Grande and the snorkeling (and diving) near Pigeon Park was pretty good. As indicated above, they do not "rent" out the snorkel gear, so you would need to bring your own. Definitely sign-up early, as Flowers indicated, it does fill up quickly (along with all the other water sports)
