Which Sandals Resort for Honeymoon?

Hi Everyone - I have been reading tons of TA topics this week but thought it was time to ask my own question. We have some time before our honeymoon (mid January 2016) but since we would like a Caribbean All-Inclusive, we thought of Sandals - Hopefully that is the right choice :)

We are looking for a luxurious, relaxing experience with a nice clean beach and pools. We are foodies and while we don't expect 4 star dining at an AI, we are hoping for good food (better than the so-so food we had at the Riu Paradise Island). We don't plan on leaving the resort or interacting with locals - just a relaxing and serene honeymoon. We definitely will be looking at Club Level and would like an Ocean View room with a whirlpool for about 10 days. Budget around $6-7k

From he reviews we are thinking of Whitehouse in Jamaica, Grande & La Toc in St. Lucia, and Grande in Antigua. Seems the Bahamas resorts have spottier reviews and non-stop flights are few and far between from NYC area and Grenada.

Posting this is both the Jamaica and St. Lucia forums. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jack...I'm copying and pasting my response from the Jamaica forum:

Of all Sandals resorts, Sandals Whitehouse and Sandals Grande St. Lucian are our tied as our #1 favourites.

As mentioned on the other post, it is important to make a list of deal breakers for yourself to narrow down the choices. Here's a brief snapshot of the 4 Sandals you are considering:

- 90 mins from the airport

- all rooms are ocean front

- 2 mile private beach (no beach vendors or other resort guests)

- 3 large pools, 2 with swim-up bars

- 90 mins-2 hrs from airport

- huge variety of room choices

- beach is nice but due to the location will often have red flag days

- very hilly resort --> be prepared for walking excercise or taking the in-resort shuttle van to get from the bluff side to the beach level

- spectacular views from the bluffs

- golf course on site

- advantage of stay-at-one, play-at-three in St. Lucia (full exchange privileges with Sandals Grande and Halcyon)

- 90 mins-2 hrs from airport

- built on peninsula so some rooms have Atlantic Ocean view and others have Rodney Bay view

- nice calm sheltered beach

- very nice pools including swim-up suites

- advantage of stay-at-one, play-at-three in St. Lucia (full exchange privileges with Sandals La Toc and Halcyon)

- 20 mins from the airport

- resort is like two resorts in one --> Caribbean Grove side is older, lush gardens, stand-alone lower rise buildings, some right on the beach, Mediterranean Village is newer, high rise, on landscaped grounds and ocean views though set back from the ocean

- water is clear, beach is nice but perhaps busier than the other Sandals mentioned above as there will be beach vendors and other resort guests along the way

- nice variety of room choices

JackL, TP55 summarizes the properties very well. All have their strengths and would be nice choices for your honeymoon.

Are you working with a Certified Sandals Travel Agent? They can provide excellent guidance on room categories as some properties can be dizzying, trying to select the right room.

Grenada is an amazing property (just got back last week), but yes, DL only has one weekly flight

Congrats and enjoy whichever property you choose.
