Jade mountain or sugar beach?

Have booked a week at Jade but am now wondering if sugar beach wouldn't be a better choice?

We have been to StLucia before but stayed close to Rodney Bay. This time we want to do some hiking, mountain biking, sunset cruise, and botanical gardens and a couple of dinners off-property

So I am concerned about the road leaving Jade and the difficulty with transportation however I like the privacy idea of Jade and worry that sugar beach would be busy with families especially in the restaurants. Also am a sun/beach lover and wonder which one has the better beach/snorkeling area?

Bon jou Sharon K,

Stay with Jade Mountain.

Better snorkeling off Anse Chastenet beach and around the rocky Grande Caille headlands, than Viceroy SB.

Check out Desi on water taxi Moby Dick, stationed on Anse Chastenet beach (Jade Mountain), for quick transport to Soufriere and anywhere to the north or south.

Or take a land taxi and let a local drive the road...

Bless up! Paul

Overall - stay with Jade. It is so unique and the views are so spectacular, you won't be disappointed. And we vastly enjoy the Jade/AC beach, along with Anse Mamin next door over the Jalousie/Sugar Beach's imported sand and occasional crowds of cruise ship visitors. Definitely worth taking a water taxi over for a morning or afternoon and check it out, it is lovely - but overall, we like AC/Jade's beach and snorkeling much better.

The road in/out can be a nailbiter, but it is navigable - have a taxi/local drive it, or take a water taxi in to town for ease and comfort and pick up a taxi at the pier for sightseeing, etc. Very easy, and the views from the water are amazing! Plus, mountain biking is right there at Anse Mamin/AC - at your doorstep! There is hiking around the property also. And again, easy enough to get into town via water taxi for other sightseeing.

Sugar Beach is lovely, but it is much more of a typical resort (although the views around can be stunning too - definitely visit once), and yes, you will probably run in to one or 2 families, but it is never overrun with children as it's just not that kind of resort overall. Most families who do visit are well travelled, kids are well travelled and well behaved, and are not running wild or taking over the facilities.

Overall though - Jade Mountain hands down, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy!

I stayed at Jade Mountain this past September. It is INCREDIBLE and it feels very private and exclusive. You can't go wrong if you're looking for a secluded resort that's super special. I believe that JM was voted #1 resort in the Caribbean by Conde Naste Traveler for the second year in a row too. Be sure to try Jade Club's signature chocolate martini!!
