Public transportation?

Hi St. Lucians - what is the best way to travel from Soufriere to Laborie for a few hours and then back? Thanks in advance and I appreciate all your help!

Bon jou karlmanisin,

Private taxi with a friendly driver (tour guide/island-insider) is the "best" way for visitors to move around and experience the real St. Lucia. There is much to see & do between Soufriere & Laborie...

OR

In the morning take the public mini-bus for Vieux Fort (parked at the square). Get off in Laborie for a few hours. In the afternoon allow enough time for a mini-bus for Soufriere with empty seats to arrive from Vieux Fort...

Bless up! Paul

Eh-eh, Sunset_Sammy_10... best to allow plenty of time to go somewhere and return on St. Lucia's private transport system.

There will be mini-vans heading north from Vieux Fort that pass through Laborie to Soufriere & Choiseul and, also, some that go to Laborie village (only), Saltibus (inland before Choiseul village), Choiseul village (only), Choiseul village & the communities of Morne Sion, Morne Gouge, La Pointe, Delcer, Industry, Bois Den, Victoria, Fond Gens Libres sometimes including an unexpected detour to drop a passenger closer to their house...

Also, around noon or later in the afternoon some drivers just end their day mid-route and go home...

A private taxi can run you about US$60 from Soufriere to Laborie. For an adventure, try using public transport - mini buses are obtainable from the town square adjacent to the Catholic church or for a truly unique, memorable (if you're this adventurous) is to hop a ride on the back of an open-tray pick-up truck. Depending upon where you're staying too, you can inquire with the guest house or hotel about special arrangements as some hotels have shuttles and you may be able to negotiate a decent price for the hotel driver to take you there and bring you back.

Eh-eh, The_Concierge_8... you know how many people fall out of open pick-up trucks in St. Lucia? Not recommended to hop a ride...
