Heading to Westin St maarten in October with infant

I am taking my year old son and my wife to SXM to introduce himn to his grandmother.

will be staying in the Westin. has anyone been there with an infant? If so, how was the stay, the staff and dining etc etc?

What should I look for or be concerned about?

My wife and I just returned from St Maarten, we spent our first night at the Westin before joining our group at a villa.

We are mid twenties (no kids), but saw more families than singles/couples. Lots of young kids in the pools. It's right on the beach. There is only one restaurant that was open when we were there (8/16), Ocean, half of it's outside. Not to stuffy, but nicer.

You might want to get a cab over to the Oyster Pond Yacht Club, it's only a few hundred yards away but steep and windy roads make walking not an option.

Staff was very friendly.

Stayed at the Westin Oct 9th thru Oct 13th.

The hotel was nice and far from everyone, so you had lots of privacy.

The drive there takes you thru a neighbourhood that has the potential of being dangerous at night, but we were lucky that nothing happened.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was nice anc clean. Very roomy. We had originally booked a mountain view but got upgraded to a partial ocean view. that was good enough. We were close enough to the ocean to smell the salty air while sitting on the porch.

The pool was wonderful and u had your choice of either swimming in the poolor venturing into the ocean which was about 30 feet away. oh yea and dont foregt the bar...its in between the pool and the ocean so u have a good view of everything.

The grounds were well kept. the casino was small bt I wasnt there to gamble. We did get a $25 voucher but i didnt use it.

On sundays they have a huge buffet...its a bit pricey. if u have a car (which is recommended) take a ride on the french side of teh island and try out some of the local cuisine.

we had no issues with our kid. it was a great place and everyone waas very attentive and helped out with our kid.

As ussual dining is not cheap, so get a refrigerator and get ur own or get off the property and go get some food. "Next door" there is bamboo bernies which served italian cuisone, but from teh locals i heard that they also serve local food if u ask.

The Westin is very nice and clean. Staff are friendly. It is far away from everything and food is expensive and only okay.

Don't forget about hurricanes in October. We were there last month and were hit by Hurricane Omar.

Luckily I left a day or so before it hit. But I am pretty sure all the guest were well taken care of.

Access to the porch seemed to be reinforced...the door was extremely heavy and the glass was nice and thick. I felt really secure there.
