Suggestions needed for Nightlife in St Martin for January 09

Hello,

I'm traveling to St Martin from January 9th through 13th, 2009. I am traveling with a big group of girls in the 20s to 30s of age range so we are looking to have a very good time.

I visited the island 6 months ago and loved the nightlife there so much. We got the table service from both Bliss and Mansion back then and will do the same in January. I know they have different special events going on especially because January is peak high season and read an article from online recently that Bliss is closed as of Oct 2008??? not sure if it's true. Trying to find out if Bliss and Mansion are still opened and I wanted to know if there are certain nights I should visit certain bars or clubs. I am staying on the Dutch side in Simpsons Bay of the island.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Haven't been to either of the ones you mentioned, but I'd go over to Maho and the casino across the street. It's safe to walk all around there at night and several restaurants. There is (was?) a restaurant named Cherie's next to the casino with dancers and singers--- outside and lots of fun-loving people. We've stayed there at Maho Beach twice. Also, there's a bar at the end of the airport runway on the beach (I think Sunset Bar) and there's always a crowd around there in the late afternoon and at sunset (take your camera). If you rent a car Orient Beach on the French side is the liveiest (sp?) but at least 30 minutes from Simpson Bay. Also, I like the marina area just south of Marigot--- lots of places to eat and just a fun place.

Have fun,

Kent

Pick up a copy of K-Pasa Magazine at the airport or at your hotel. It lists entertainment weekly.

Here is the on line version.

Bliss has reopened after repairing heavy damage from Omar - but without the restaurant. I believe Mansion is still going strong also.

Since you are in Simpson Bay, you might also want to check out Red Piano.

Is the Q-club open? Last Jan no one there. I was told of two clubs Wish and Next--any thoughts?

The RED PIANO in Pelican is always jumping. Great crowds and great owners who are always there and making sure the joint is jumping..

In terms of Nightlife, there are many great places. Just back from a week long bender with my friends.

Manson and Bliss are still going Strong. They are relatively pricey options, but as girls, you should be OK. (Wednesday is Ladies night at Bliss)

The Q is closed, but 'The Alley' has a pretty good party going on Friday Nights. Good crowds at Soggy's aswell.

Suggestion: Find a way to stay in Maho Beach. It's much safer at night and easy to get around.

If you are into something a little different and very fun IMO take a road trip over to the French side for Kali's full moon party January 11th on Friar's Bay b/w Marigot and Grand Case. My wife and I were just there for the December party and it was a blast. It starts late, and goes until 4 am or so but there is great music, bonfire, great mix of people right on the beach. We are 40 somethings but there were mostly folks your age. Although it is quite a drive on winding roads, there is little traffic at night. Find yourself a DD and go, you will not be disappointed.
