Walking - Simpson Bay/beach to Maho Bay/beach

Howdo all,

Wonder if anybody could confirm if its possible to walk along Simpson Beach and get through at the Western End to Maho and the Sunset Beach Bar area ?

Looking on Google Maps it looks possible but "on the ground reports" would be great :-)

Many thanks in advance

Can't be done from Major resorts in Simpson bay. You have the draw bridge to contend with along with numerous obsticals in between. Best to drive.

I have read that you can do it but have not done it myself. I assume you are talking about the main section of Simpson Bay Beach and not Kim-Sha beach extension located after the canal.

My parents have done it from Mary's Boon, but it's quite a walk, even though it does not look too far on the map.

My husband and I are avid walkers, but we would not attempt that walk, what with the traffic and the distance.

We have walked over the bridge, not fun, but can be done.

Thanks for the replies - yes I was referring to the Simpson Bay Beach to the West of the bridge/canal rather than the East - eg from Mary's Boon etc.

Thanks for the info PennyLane (looks like I owe you a decent Černé pivo !) - yes thats area from Simspon Bay we were wondering about.

Looking on Google Maps it looks like you could get through at the Beacon Hill end (West) of the beach to Maho beach but just wasn't too sure if there was a public way through.

BTW, what did our parents think to Mary's Boon ?

Cheers

We have stayed at Mary's Boon as well as Beachside Villas on Simpson Bay and have walked to Maho from both. The easiest way is to walk to the end of Beachside Villas and walk to the road which if you keep to the right will take you right to Maho. As for Mary's Boon it was nice but we found Beachside Villas to be even better.

Thanks for the info Candu2 - whilst we have seen the Beechside Villas on photos (and Google Maps) I have only just looked at their website and there seems to be some good reviews about them.

We weren't thinking of Mary's Boon at the moment but did have it down to ne of two properties but a bit further to the Eastern end of the beach.

So many to choose from though !

Thanks.

Hello JC, my parents have been visiting Mary's Boon for years, but stopped going last summer when the place was sold by the American owners (Carla and Mark) and various changes were planned to be implemented. My parents don't like change :)

They always stayed in the delux rooms on the beach, those furtherst away from the main house, and loved the solitude and the beach. And I don't think they would now love the new bar next door to Mary's which is on the scrub land passed Mary's. So they will not go again, and possibly not go to St. Martin at all.

They are going to St. Barths and Anguilla this year.

The walk is possible as described above, once you pass the beach (a lot of soft sand)you just hit a paved road and the walking is much easier then.

Na Zdravi (Cheers)

PS I hope you liked Prague.

10. Re: Walking - Simpson Bay/beach to Maho Bay/beach

Hello,

I will be there for a dental conference this Friday (Feb 6th) and will be staying at the Horny Toad Guesthouse. The conference will be at the Maho Sonesta beach resort 7 casino. I opted to stay at the Guesthouse for peace & quiet but now I'm not too sure it was a good idea given that it doesn't seem like you could walk to Maho from there. I was told it was a mile away, but undoable because there isn't any sidewalk. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case? Are there even supermarkets from the Horny Toad Guesthouse that you could walk to (it is self- catering so I would need to buy food)?

Really appreciate your help. Thanks.
