favorite Italian restaurant

My husband and I are going to be in ST. Maarten the 1st week of June. We haven't been in years. looking for top 3 Italian restaurants recommendations. We are staying at Simpson Bay(Flamingo Resort), but will have a car, so location not a problem. Any suggestions?

Bobcat named some very good ones but he left out La Rosa's 2.

IMHO, one of the best!

I would rate the top 3 on the island as La Rosa'a, Spiga, and Don Camilio

We had the worst service of our lives in Il Nettuno last year and the food was just so-so. We were SO pumped to go because we loved it from years ago. We will never go again

Loved Spiga,though

Pizza Pasta, Don Camillo, La Gondola, Spiga are all good choice.s

Stay Away from La Rosa 2 in Maho. Horrible food, bad service and decor from the early 1980s. It's a good restaurant if you live in rural America and don't have an experienced palate for Italian food.

It was good 10 years ago but now it is a sub par restaurant on an elite island for restaurants.

Their idea of Carpaccio is ridiculous. They drown the meat in Kraft salad dressing.

Tyler

i am sorry you had a bad experience at la Rosa 2. Our experience has been entirely different. We ate there at least 4 times in February and March and never had a bad meal. Their food is very good.

Sometimes if they are busy the service can be a little off, but we love the restaurant.

I think your remark about, if you like it,you do n ot have an experienced palate is insulting.

People have different tastes and different experiences at restaurants.

To put someone down because your experience is different is not appropriate.

FYI< not that it matters, but I have eaten in the best restaurants all over the world, including Italy.

We have taken friends from Boston and NYC there many ties and all love the food, and they certainly are not rural or unsophisticated in their tastes.

Everybody has their likes and dislikes. I for one think pizza pasta isn't that great. I won't go back.

SC Mom, - I don't have any recommendations, but just wanted to know you're dates. I assume you'll probably be leaving as we're arriving. We're 2 hours from Columbia, flying out of Charlotte on 6/6, staying at the Pelican - neighbor to Flamingo. Small world.
