Anguilla, Aruba or St. Martin? Advice please!

Hello, we are looking for advice from your expertise! I have been reading posts in all the forums but I am very confused which would be best for us. A little about us: we are looking to stay at a beautiful beach hotel, safe area, close to restaurants that we can walk to (we won't have a car), we will be traveling with a 2 year old toddler. The most important aspects for us is food - we want great food but not fine dining and secondly is the beach (having space and not feeling someone is laying on top of us), nice sand and just to relax not looking for the busiest island but want options. For hotel or villa's I would say moderately priced, we will be looking to go end March or end of April timeframe. Thank you for all your advice!!

My choice based upon your requirements is Aruba. Safe, clean, well organized, easy to get around with the bus at $2.30 p.p. round trip, nice restaurants, beaches, hotels, shopping, casinos, sight seeing.....walking from hotel to hotel with numerous shops and restaurants on the opposite side of the street where the high-rise hotels are or you have the option of low-rise hotels and timeshare resorts where you can have some meals in your unit with foods purchased from the large supermarkets nearer the low-rise area.

You can find some of these things on this island but your options are far more on Aruba without having to rent a car.

I agree with the first response, check out the Eagle Beach area in Aruba, also referred to as the Lowrise section.

I have never been to Beaches, either in Provo or Jamaica, but if I were traveling with a 2 year old and with all the things you are looking for in a vacation, I certainly would research these 2 hotels. They both have everything you need in a vacation and are all inclusive.

Ya know....I hate to be the odd man out here but....

Sounds like you would be just as happy at a nice resort in Florida.

Great open beaches, food, easy to get around AND much cheaper.

I like Aruba and have been there many (close to 10) times but it always reminds me of Boston with beaches instead of buildings. It seems like everyone is from New England and the Island experience is lacking. It does have some very nice beaches and resorts but so does Florida at 1/3 the price for airfare/food and minimal TSA issues.

I go to SXM because it is a Caribbean island and, as such, has its beauties and its beasts.

beaches in turks & caicos (provo) is listed as one of the top family AI resorts in the caribbean. the beaches chain caters to families. florida beaches also offer excellent options for families and there are excellent ones on the panhandle and west coast if you prefer something other than lauderdale and miami atmospheres. florida can be a bit cooler though during the winter months. while we loved eagle beach in aruba for it's laid back atmosphere i wouldn't consider it without a car if i were travelling with children. buses are inexpensive but not directly on the beach road and you will be toting a toddler and all the wonderful things they need to keep them happy. aruba is wonderful for families but without a car i would look at the more congested palm beach area for it's location to more restaurants and options within a reasonable walking distance.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am now leaning towards Aruba! We actually just moved from Florida so that is not a vacation for us. This vacation I was looking to skip an all inclusive and enjoy some of the local dining as well as beaches.

Good Choice - Lot's of restaurant choices from fast food, casual to more unscale.

Hotels generally are either high-rise or low-rise. The low-riser offer less of a crowded feeling with easy access to pools beach and dining options.. More activity in the high rise area and bus service covers both high rise and low rise areas so it is easy to go from one to the other and to town and back. Easy beach access from both areas.

The hotel bus is No. 10, 10A, 10B and all three stop outside the

hospital entrance when coming from town in the unlikely event you would need their services and it not be an emergency.

There is dining available in the low rise area as well as in the high rise area, and casino action, if desired.

So, all you need to do is to decide upon a hotel/resort.

You'll enjoy Aruba.....we are leaving in just 9 days, we'll be spending 10 in St Martin, with a couple of day trips to Anguilla and then flying to Aruba for another 7 nights....can't wait.

One thing you might check out in Aruba is Renaissance Island, which is included with a stay at the downtown Marriott (last time were in Aruba we stayed there for 2 nights, just to experience the downtown area and Ren Island). But you can enjoy a day there for a fee, one side is dedicated to families while the other is for adults, there are iguanas just walking around on the family side and flamingos on the adult side. If you google Renaissance Island Aruba you'll find all sorts of pictures. The swimming with a little one would be great as the area is protected.

Have a great time!
