Lo lo

IWhat is a Lo Lo? Where are they found? Are they an eating place of some kind? Will be arriving with a group of girlfriends on May 11 and are looking at a variety of dining options for our stay.

LoLo's = Locally Owned Locally Operated - they are small mostly roadside places selling reasonably priced food. They are found all around the island.

The origin of the name lolo for the roadside or beach bbq grills is a much discussed subject. The lolo is really the grill, not the business. A metal oil barrel, cut in half lengthwise and fitted with a grill for cooking is called a lolo. The use of the term has apparently been generalized by tourists to refer to the whole place, but it's really just the grill. Talk of the Town and Sky's the Limit in Grand-Case, Pedro's on Orient Beach and Johnny B 'Under the Tree' in Cole Bay are also well known lolos.

Actually, there are four lolos located together in Grand Case. The other two are Au Coin des Amis and the Rib Shack. They are along the water while Sky's the Limit and Talk of the Town are along the street.

Very good explanation of a lolo again. Knew you would be right in there explaining the true meaning of a lolo bobcat. Seems every one thinks locally owned etc but you are correct.

As far as which one is better. They are all good but we always end up at Talk of the Town. Don't know why, just do.

Do the Lolo's also serve alcohol, or just food?

All of the lo los look good. We choose the Rib Shack because that's the one we saw on Anthony Bordain's show and it was really really good. We liked that it was in the back so we could look out at the water while we were eating. I don't think you can go wrong with any one of the lo los in that area.
