St Maarten in December

Going to St Maarten december 24-31 staying on the dutch side & wondering do the stores, bars and restaurants close down for the holidays. What will the temperatures be like, and is it more crowded this time of year, first time there, not sure what to expect. Any info would be appreciated.

That week is the busiest week on the island. Retail stores will be closed December 25th and 26th, except for stores associated with a hotel. Restaurants are open. New Year's Eve is big on the island.

The temperatures are great......in the low eighties.
