Grand Case Beach Club

We are considering staying at the Grand Case Beach Club. My one concern is the beach AT the resort. On the website some pics make it seem like its very rocky with little sand. I am traveling with a toddler and a 5-year old so ample sand to run and play in is paramount. I know there are other more lovely beaches a short drive away, but we really want to stay put in terms of beach and not have to lug our things and the kids around to find a great beach. Also wondering about services: are the beach chairs laid out or do we have to get them and carry them from somewhere? Is their waiter service at the pool or beach (not a requirement, just curious)? Thanks! Kim

Chairs /umbrella are provided to guests and are set up on the beach. Beach area is small.

The pool is atop the restaurant roof, is very small and has little or no shaded area.

The beach on the Grand Case side is perfect for small children. It is very calm and plenty of sand for them to play in. There were small children there every day.

On the other side of the property there is a larger beach with service provided. There are very quick. The service is actually provided by Creole Water-sports and the food and drinks are provided by the Sunset Cafe.

There are plenty of chairs set up on both sides.

The beach on the left side is very shallow, good for little children. It is about 20 feet deep of sand before you come to the rocks. HOWEVER, on the right side of this beach in teh rocks in the water are sea urchins. You don't have to panic, but you do need to be aware if they start to wander that way.

On the beach on the right side of the resturant is a LOT of sand, but the water is rougher. There is a drop off about 10 feet out and there are waves there. The sad there goes back more than 50 feet, and it goes on for at least a half a mile.

Neither beach at the hotel are rocky, like you need shoes rocky. My 8 and 2 year old loved the smaller beach. They didn't like the waves on the alrget beach. They both had ample room to play

Just got back from a wonderful week a GCBC. With regards to the beaches, the smaller beach on the one side does not have much sand at all, enough to walk along the waters edge but it is very calm and peaceful (not many waves as its in somewhat of a cove) it is also very soft clean sand and is a gradual slope out into the ocean (no really rocky areas there), it is also roped off, so great to get one of the free floating loungers or noodles and just relax. .

The other side (where the free beach loungers/umbrellas are and has direct access to the bar/restaurant and beach service (there are little flags to raise if you want service) and the staff both at the restaurant and the water sports desk are very friendly and helpful. This side definitely has more sand and more areas to walk and play in the sand - but I have to say the surf here is a little rougher/it is not roped off, and is quite rocky about 10 feet in - there is kind of a rocky shelf under the water then a little drop off to a deeper area which can make it a little more of a challenge getting in/out of the water but its not too difficult and the rocks are fairly smooth. Very little seaweed on either beach. There is also a small pool if you prefer a pool to the ocean but we didn't end up using it once -as we preferred the warm ocean water. One note for any of the beaches on the island- bring bug spray - bugs aren't bad at all during the day but once the sun starts to set - lots of mosquitos and sand fleas/flies aka noseeums.
