taking wine to st maarten

I understand that while liquor is cheap in St. Maarten, wine is very expensive. How much are we allowed to bring with us?

You understand wrong - wine will generally be less expensive than back in NY.

Don't bother bringing any with you, it's not really necessary.

To answer your specific question, you can bring in 2 liters "duty free". Any amount over that is subject to customs duty.

Taking wine to St. Martin is a little like taking sand --- it's plentiful, cheap and wonderful. No need to lug any with you.

Unless you have a very special bottle that you want to enjopy on a special night don't bother with taking wine with you. US made wines are more wxpensive but not much over US prices. Every other countries wines are going to be less on SXM.

I don't think you have to worry about how much you can bring in to SXM as it is a duty free island and the two LT pertains to taking it into US customs upon your return.

My problem is how much great french wine I can bring back. We found a great french Sauvignon blanc made by Dourth about $8 US also a Rose Pink Parasol by Cotes de Provence for $5 US. Get some cheese, bread and hit the beach.

R U allowed to take a bottle of wine and a bottle of vodka we purchased in St. Maartan back to the States?

Can it be packed in the suitcases? We purchased but didn't drink it and didn't want to leave it behind.

Thanks,

Michele
