Sonesta Great or Sonesta Maho in St. Maarten

I'm going on a last minute trip towards the end of the week to St. Maarten....

What is the difference between Sonesta Great and Sonesta Maho? Similar in price, wondering if anyone knows which is the greater of the two options. I am booking tomorrow.

All feedback are welcome :)

Maho doesnt really have a beach to sit on you would have to walk to mullet bay or maho beach where the sunset bar is thts what made the decision for me i booked great bay. Its hard to choose between the two reviews are ok for both! if beach is important go with great bay. Its a ten minute walk to town in phillipsburg if your interested in shopping, however at great bay based on reviews there is no nite life maho has more nitelife

it's all about location. Do you want to be in the Philipsburg area?

Philipsburg is lively during the day but quiet at night.

the Maho area is more in the heart of the tourist area and has lots to do at night..

We just got backlast week. St Martin was great, water is

beautiful. The resort is a lot of fun but it is an older building that

they are restoring. No issues with noise. Our original room was on the

first floor (ocean view) was at beach level. That is it was a view of a

retaining wall and the top of the beach. We could see the water if we

looked hard enough between the chairs of the beach chairs. My wife went

and complained. We ended up on the sixth floor(out of 7) with a true ocean

view watching the cruise ships come in and dock. Short walk into

Phillipsberg along the beach. People very friendly but as at any resort

I wouldn't go walking off [[property at night. They have a sit down restaurant

called 'Molasses' on the main floor.Pretty mich the same menu every night nothing that I wanted to try.

Then down at thebeachlevel they have a buffet. A slightly better choice of foods to choose

from. Also on the beach is an Italian restaurant under a tent. Best

mealswe had all week The beach buffet was also open for lunch and there also

is a hot dog and hamburger building along the beach with pizza. They don't

seem to understand the concept of medium rare here.

Bars The lobby bar was the best but rarely had a bottle of premium liquor.

What they didn't tell us that if you are all-inclusive you can go to the Sonesta

at the airport and eat there at no additional cost. I had a great

steak. Of course getting there is at your own expense. At great bay Vicky at the

frontt desk was the best, Owen at the lobby bar was excellent Food server

Modesstte in the buffet and in the

Italiarestruant were the best.We had no problems flying Bradley to San Juan

and San Juan to Saint Martin

The airport looks fairly new and seems well organized. Return trip was just

as easy
