weather and cruise schedule

Is May a good time of year? I would like to time a visit with less cruise ship traffic. From year to year does it change?

Yes, May is a good time to visit St. Martin.

Weather and number of cruise ship in port during that month don't change dramatically from year to year.

You can research cruise schedules for any given month here: http://www.portofstmaarten.com/schedule.htm

You can research general weather statistics for St. Martin at: www.weatherbase.com

If you want more detailed historical weather data go here: www.wunderground.com (use the "Weather" dropdown menu and use the "History Data" and "Travel Planner" options to click your way through to so much weather data you'll become a weather expert).

There are much less cruise ships coming in during May. it is our off season so the cruise ship traffic drops off. It is a nice time to visit the island.

Unless you are planning to stay in Philipsburg though, the number of cruise ships on any given day doesn't really affect most of the rest of the island.

Traffic during high season can be heavy even if there are no cruise ships.
