Walking to restaurants from the Flamingo in Simpson Bay

Have been to SXM before, but stayed in Dawn Beach and am not really familiar with the "busy" part of the island.

Is it safe to walk to restaurants in the evening from the Flamingo? Which ones are best and within walking distance (bear in mind, I am 6 months pregnant).

Also, we are looking for good budget lunches and dinners around the island as we will have a car. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Just down the hill you'll have access to many good resturaunts. We really enjoyed Pineapple Petes-the chef is amazing! It;s a modest little resturaunt but wonderful food. We've walked down the hill many times at night-never had any problems, just use common sense.

You will have to be carefull walking in this area as it is hilly.

Hideaway restaurant at La Vista is an easy walk without very hilly walking but many of the restaurants are down on the main road.

Boathouse is a nice seafood restaurant.

Zee Best is nice for breakfast.

Pasta Pizza Trattoria in Maho behind Cheri's Cafe is an inexpensive and good restraurant as is Cheri's Cafe.

Le Piment in Orient Village is another good inexpensive choice.

In Grand Case the lolos are all good BBQ places. Also one of our favorite GC restaurants Brasserie des Îles (aka Le Pub) is about the safest place to eat on the whole island. Why? Well, it's where all the off-duty gendarmes stationed in Grand Case hang out. Good food - good prices -

Another good breakfast and lunch place is La Croissanterie in Marigot Marina Port La Royale.

Keep in mind going down that hill isnt too bad~ going up, maybe another story...esp. 6mo pregnant. The Greenhouse is also at the bottom of that hill before you get to the main rd. Buccaneer Beach bar has a grill and a variety of inexpensive lunches (same area) We found a little pizza place by crossing the Kim Shaw beach, past Labamba then cross Welfare rd. to the Pizza Galley. It sits back a little bit off the road just before the lift bridge. You can walk during the day no problem, but at night~ I would be a little more cautious. The roads are narrow and sometimes not a lot of room for pedestrians. Check it out during the day if you have a car, and take that walk down the hill and back up early in the day~ that will give you an idea if you'd be able to do it later evening.

Also try Tutta Pasta at the Simpson Bay Marina area. It is on the 2nd floor across from Jimbo's. We make it a point to go there every year, You can eat out on the rooftop.

One of the best is right there on the beach in front of the Flamingo, Topper's by the Sea. It's a good location for watching sunsets also.

Unless your idea of a 3 week vacation is sitting by the beach all day and going to restaurants at night, I would suggest a car. The Flamingo is nice, the beach is ok, but this is not a resort where there is an activiities director keeping you busy all day. It is more laid back and most people who stay there are timeshare holders and rent cars.

We do love the beach and sunbathing, and nice walks to good eating places, but after a week or so we could be needing a change ,so a car could be useful.Do you have any suggestions of place to visit.Do you know how easy it is to visit st kitts.
