Unsure of what area to stay at when we visit St Martin

For brevity, I did not indicate which side we'd be staying on but our timeshare company has none of the French side choices. .

We will rent a car and we love Orient Beach as well as Cupecoy and Dawn Beach.

We are 40-56 years old and enjoy fine dining more than the night life. We'll dine elegantly but also relish the local hang outs, like the Lady C (Floating Bar near the drawbridge).

Can anybody give us a few resorts that might fit the bill? Even if we cannot get into that resort, at least we'd be in the neighborhood to enjoy the local restaurants and bars.

Thanks!

Sad to say, Lady C is closed. Bobcat has given you some good choices. We used to stay at the Atrium and drive to Orient every day.

You guys are awesome. We had a few of these on our radar. Now we can go with confidence.

With the Lady C closed, we might want to find Mike, the proprietor and tell him how much we enjoyed his venue. He once was about to close, but when he saw how my friends and I were enjoying the night, he said: "Just shut the stereo down at midnight and lock the place up when you leave." We only stayed for another half hour, but the thought that we were trusted to hang out and consume anything was mind-boggleing.

P.S. We're probably going in early November for any other SXM fans.

There may be no need to pay full price - you'll find some of these resorts (and others) on the Endless Vacations website at fantastic savings -

We use them often for Sint Maarten, Aruba & Florida

Enjoy!

I believe Mike is in Curacao. Brian, the manager/bartender now runs the St Maarten Yacht Club bar and restaurant just next door. We've closed down Lady C a few times ourselves.. Sure do miss it!

Personally I prefer the Dutch side. I have stayed at Flamingo Beach resort and Simson bay Marina (formerly Pelican) and had great experiences at both. Royal Islander LaPlage is a VERY nice resort on Maho beach if you don't mind the occassional noise of the VERY low fliing jets inbound to the airport.

I have used a company called JustGottaGo Resort Rentals to get some great deals on last-minute resort rentals in St Maarten. They can only get them around 2 weeks in advance but they seem to always get them pretty much every week of the year. Their site is www.justgottago.com and they are also on ebay here:

Hope that helps

I guess simpson bay is a good location to stay. You can also check Divi Resort by Little bay. It is very nice too. Ayway, I saw you enjoy fine dining. I tell you my secret 5 stars place to eat. It is called "Fusion" . They are located at Simpson Bay next to Paradise Plaza Casino/ Megaplex7 movie theater. The foods are unbelivably great. The chef Marvin and Nushka only use high quality foods. it is NOT commercial/chain restaurant. You will be surprised how great foods they offer! :) Inside is very nice too. It will be a perfect for romantic dinner! We LOVED it!!! Well, I hope you guys have a great vacation there. Let us know!!! :)

I had heard that Fusion closed down in Philipsburg and in Maho. Is this their new location?

Yes, in the Paradise Mall, across from Pineapple Pete and behind Izzi. Both other locations are closed.
