driving on the island....

How is driving on the island? We have driven on St John - USVI. Just wondering how it compares.

The roads are horrendous, the safari drivers semi blind and the scooter drivers suicidal. Other than that, not bad. The switchbacks tend to pose the biggest challenge to most folks,especially if it has rained. Really not bad once you have done them. Taxi's are usually in a rush to catch another fare. If you are on the North Shore hills, listen for air horns, concrete or water truck coming!

We've been to both the USVI and BVI, and, on the whole, the BVI are easier to drive than St J - there are not as many sharp switchbacks as on St. J. As LoveCGB says, pay attention and be aware of the other drivers. Which island(s) in the BVI are you thinking about visiting?
