Catching Ferry within 30min of Docking?

We will be aboard the Oceania Regatta in Jan. on a Friday which is scheduled to be at Tortola from 12pm to 6pm. We would like to see and explore the Baths at Virgin Gorda. The earliest ferry is a 12:30 ferry from Road House to Virgin Gorda (Smith's Ferry). The ship holds only 684 passengers and the only other ship in port had docked at 9am or maybe earlier. Given that the ship docks at 12:00pm and we are off the gangway by 12:10pm, is there enough time to walk (quickly) to the ferry terminal, buy the tickets, and catch the 12:30pm ferry? The next ferry is not until 1:30pm (Speedy's) and the return will probably be at 4pm (Smith's). There is a 5pm return from Virgin Gorda from both ferry companies, but then I am taking a chance of missing the ship.

The first option appears to have sufficient time, but the 1:30 ferry with the 4pm return will seem totally inadequate. Opinions? Other options?

You won't be able to leave the ship until theBVI Immigration & Customs officials "clear" the ship. That process can take anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes. How long it takes the day you arrive is anyone's guess.

It is possible your ship will arrive in port before 12 noon in which case the I & C officials will conduct the clearance before noon and you'd be able to disembark almost at 12noon. So, contact your cruise line and ask them what time the ship is scheduled to arrive and what time you'll be able to disembark they are the ones that can best answer your question.

Yes just play it by ear, if you get cleared in time to hustle to the ferry dock and make the 12:30 then that will be great. If not you may want to consider an island tour/beach stop on Tortola. Here's a link to the beach descriptions if interested.

There may be a small operator taking folks to the Baths too, Dion is one and I've read both glowing and horrible reports on his services. So not a recommendation at all, but if you peruse the Tortola forum on cruisecritic you'll see the related posts.
