Virgin Gorda Village (Old Yarde Village)

Can anybody tell me about this property? There are two listings and the few reviews are conflicting. Any feedback on the condition of the units, pool and property would be appreciated.

Any suggestions on other places that offer units with a full kitchen and a community pool in the under $200/night range would also be helpful. Location doesnt matter because we will have a rental car.

NYCaribQueen, This property was known as "Olde Yarde Village" for a # of yrs, but underwent a major expansion and is now VG Village. We have not stayed there, but have toured the property, and have eaten at the condo of a friend at VG Village. We're impressed with the units we've seen - they are among the most modern accommodations on VG, with AC units in every room, new appliances, etc. We've eaten at the restaurant several times, and think they consistently serve some of the best food on VG. We've also had massages at the Spa and were very satisfied. The pool is one of the largest on VG, and the location is central, just a few mins north of Spanish Town. Here are some photos:

We spent an afternoon there having lunch and hanging out at the pool. We had a great time and if we did not care about staying right on the beach (which we prefer) we would have no problem staying there. It is pretty centrally located.

Thank you! The info and photos are much appreciated! I have contacted them about rates. We, too, prefer to stay on the beach (heck, I prefer to just not leave) but sometimes our budget says otherwise. We didn't stay on the beach in St. John and it didn't bother us. We also rent a car for the entire duration of our stay, so really not a problem.

Another question....and I know this is addressed so many times...but what days are the best to fly into STT and for sure get a ferry to VG the same day? We are just concerned about getting there the same day because we bring a cooler of meats, cheeses, etc. and it's a pain to stop over. Speedy's looks like Tuesdays and Thursdays (we can't do a Sat) but is it the same schedule in low season (end of June-July)? If we have to do a different day, do we go STT (CA) to Tortola and then on to Virgin Gorda? How's this - are there any days we would not be able to get from STT to VG?

Glad we could help. We've stayed 3 wks on St John, and you'll find the driving quite a bit easier on VG, with very few switchbacks. There is one main road that connects the island, and then arteries, particularly in the Spanish Town area and the southern part of the island.

Sorry we can't help you very much on the ferry schedule. The only time we've flown to STT was our trip to St. John. We get to the BVI via SJU, and then either a smaller plane to Tortola, VG, or Anegada. My understanding is that the ferry schedule is fairly constant, year round, with a few changes during the low season. You might want to contact a ferry service directly and find out their summer schedule. And, feel free to post a new thread with your ferry schedule question.

The ferry schedule does not alter much in summer particularly for the direct ferry route. The days there is no direct ferry from STT to Virgin Gorda you have multiple ferrys going from STT to Tortola and then muliple ferrys from there to Virgin Gorda. Make sure you read the BVI immigation site for their policies on bringing in fresh and frozen food products.
