New Years fireworks - becoming a tradition

Last year was our first year in our new house, which has a great panoramic view... we stayed home for New Year and spotted about 15 fireworks displays at midnight.

This year we could tell from fireworks going off over the season that 15 would be a very low estimate... but wow.. we lost count at 50 !!.....

Another new tradition for #MyCayman :)

As we looked across from Kaibo we could see a lot of fireworks, but no where the number you saw. You must have a great view.

Happy New Year

Saw some pretty impressive pro/am displays over North Sound and the displays from the East End in the distance. Almost felt like there were more displays going on all around than in the US during the 4th of July.

The fireworks visible from the SMB Public Beach were spectacular this year! We saw them going off, several from 11PM and onward, all the way from somewhere in West Bay in the north to Sunset House south of downtown. Calico Jack's right next door to the public beach had a very lively bonfire that they lit up around 11PM, that I guess was visible from most points along the beach, as well as an extensive fireworks display in the air and on the ground too. Someone was also setting off the "hot air balloon" type fireworks that drifted slowly out over the sea emitting a steady warm glow all the way - the first time I've seen those. Radio Cayman played just the right music, and in keeping with tradition of course "Auld Lang Syne" right at midnight ... Everyone we came in contact with was in good spirits and a great mood ...

All this and a rare "blue moon" directly overhead at midnight, plus our own fireworks display on the beach put on by teenagers in the family - a beautiful night, a great way to say goodbye to the "oughts" till next century and welcome in the New Year!

Wishing a HEALTHY and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!!

Someone told me that there were 500 pink (for cancer) hot balloons set off from Rackhams. That must have quite a sight
