Doing my 1st western caribbean cruise. What's cool to do when u only have a day & don't wanna miss the boat? Also going to Falmouth & Cozumel if you have ideas.

Thanks so much!

Best to re-post your question on the Cozumel and Jamaica forums for suggestions in those ports of call or check the cruise forum. My brother and sister-in-law enjoyed the helicopter tour when they stopped at GC last December. Certainly not a budget-friendly option though.

The cruise lines offer several shore excursion options for Grand Cayman, so if you're traveling alone and concerned about "missing the boat" you can opt for one of those. They probably aren't the least expensive option so you may not often see them recommended on these forums, but to be fair those arrangements are generally more "hassle-free" for their cruise guests and they do pay attention to the quality and reliability of the operators they work with in each port. For example some of the options for Grand Cayman combine a visit to the stingray sandbar along with a visit to the turtle farm - two unique things that Grand Cayman offers, that can be done on the same day if it's a coordinated tour. If you look on your cruise line's website they give a description and pricing of all the shore excursions/activites they offer for each of the ports you'll be stopping at. Anyway that will give you some ideas as to popular things to do for the day.

Thanks CayMan! May just take a chance & venture away from the crowd.

There are 2 of us. But 8 total with the crew.

In Cozumel rent scooters and drive around the island! Start off heading south and follow the main beach highway around the island! South point, (punta sur) is great! Stop at random beaches, beach bars.... Make your own schedule!!

A few ideas for Grand Cayman:

You can rent a jeep (or two) for a special rate for cruise passengers:

http://aviscayman.com/cruise.htm

You could make your own arrangements for a trip to Stingray Sandbar with charter operators that take smaller groups:

captaincrosbywatersports.com/stingray-city

The public minibus service between George Town and West Bay charges US$2.50 for each person each ride. You can stop at places like the SMB public beach / Calico Jack's, the West Bay public beach, the turtle farm, the Cayman Motor Museum, the Hell attraction.
