We are thinking about traveling to GC for the 1st time this coming June. We have 2 children, ages 7 and 10. We have pretty much narrowed down where we would like to stay to either Christopher Columbus or Anchorage. I am aware they are right next to each other. I have a couple questions as to the difference between the 2. From my research, it appears the main differences are that CC is larger, has more units available than Anchorage. However, Anchorage has screened porches, and looks like the beach entry may be a little more sandy than CC. CC is also a bit more expensive. Are there other amenities that CC has that make it a better choice? I noticed it is rated #3 of specialty lodging on here, but I am not sure if that is because it is truly better than Anchorage, or just bc it is larger, and therefore gets more reviews.
Also, just as a general question on both, I noticed they both offer Oceanfront, or Oceanfront Deluxe (or penthouse)...what is the difference between regular oceanfront and deluxe oceanfront? I noticed there is an empty lot next to Anchorage. Does anyone know if that will stay empty, or are they planning on doing some type of construction there? Anyway, if anyone has any info that could help us make our decision, we'd appreciate it. I am sure I will have more questions in the future. Does anyone know when they start the summer splash promo? I haven't seen anything online for that yet this year. Thanks a lot!
