first time going to Caymon islands

My parents gave my wife and I a 10 day trip to grand caymon in march. Do we need passport books or passport cards? Cannot find a sure answer on this. We are flying from US.

You need an actual passport not the card. The passport will be stamped with a tourist visa on the way in and again on the way out. The cards have very limited usage mostly with cruises or certain border crossings but not with international flights. You can find definitive answers by googling US Passport Cards.

Apologies for the confusion.

"Yes, you need a valid passport" (not a passport card).

Come back with any other questions you have about things to do, places to see, restaurants to try....

Enjoy Caymon!

ok thank you for the info. Working on getting passports this week then!

So places to see or restaurants...

We are not going to scuba.... but have gear to snorkel (have done that in the USVI)....

We are taking our 3 children (1 year, 8 and 10) and since my parents are going too we have a baby sitter for the baby lol.... what is there to do special for 2 young children?

What are the good area's to go snorkeling?

and

What is a good place to eat?

Where have you decided to stay and when are you going? Once that part is sorted you will get lots and lots of suggestions on what to do and where to eat, etc!

A great place for restaurant ideas is the Cayman Good Taste site. The site has menus and descriptions for many restaurants as well as detailed maps to help you get oriented.

That's covered your passports and restaurant choices, your question about snorkelling can best be answered by this site: http://snorkelblog.tumblr.com/

Our Destination Expert Testudo has written this really nice online guide to the best snorkel spots on the island. That would be your best starting point for that.
